Lot no. 166
STATUTE In gilded bronze Representing Sakyamuni Buddha, seated in dhyanasana, his hands in varada mudra on a double lotus, dressed in his monastic garment "Kashaya" evoking simplicity and renunciation of all forms of materialism, his hair in tight curls topped by a bun forming the ushnisha, symbol of superior wisdom. His face, with half-closed eyes and a slight smile, expresses serenity, and his long ears listen to the world. Two attributes are missing, including the alms bowl. Sino-Tibet, Qianlong, 18th century H. 10.5 cm
