FEMALE TERRACOTTA STATUETTE Hellenistic art, Taranto (?), circa 3rd century BC Beautiful statuette of a woman standing on a square base, her body slouched on her right leg, dressed in a chiton and a himation, her left hand resting on an amphora. Her hair is pulled back into a low bun and her head is crowned with a wreath of ivy leaves. Traces of slip, polychromy and gilding. Break and vent hole at the back. Height Height : 27.5 cm A female terracotta head from the Hellenistic period and a display case for the statuette are included. Provenance: Former Joseph Frossard (1879-1955) collection, acquired in the 1920-1930s. Then by descent to the current owner A Hellenistic terracotta statuette of a woman, Taranto (?), circa 3rd century B.C.
