Bennett 1776 - Contains: Peach, apple, pomegranate, cucumber, apple & pear. - William Kilburn was an outstanding engraver of the 18th century who is particularly famous for his detailed depictions of plants and flowers. His works often depict exotic flowers, fruits and other natural motifs, which were used in ornate prints as well as in textile patterns. Kilburn worked closely with the famous botanist William Curtis and illustrated his Flora Londinensis, an important botanical work. The present still lifes are characterised by a masterly attention to detail, harmonious colouring and charming composition. - The verso of each sheet browned due to age and with partial stains.
