Stone group depicting Venugopala, showing Krishna playing the flute with elegantly crossed legs. He wears a short dhoti tied with an elaborate sash, intricate necklaces and bracelets, and the sacred thread draped across his torso. His hair is styled in a high chignon adorned with peacock feathers. Flanking him are female attendants with animals. Probably South India, late Chola / early Vijayanagar period, late 13th - early 14th century (53 x 115 cm) (damages) Provenance: Private collection, Milan
