STUNNING CHALCIDIAN BRONZE HELMET. Ca. 500 BC. A bronze Chalcidian helmet with a domed crown and a prominent horizontal ridge encircling the lower section. The front has arched openings for the eyes, separated by a short, projecting nasal guard extending from the brow. Hinged, separately made cheek-pieces are attached behind the eye openings and end in a rounded edge. The helmet curves down at the back into a broad, flaring neck flange with a sharply defined rim.
