STUNNING CORINTHIAN BRONZE HELMET. Ca. 550 - 450 BC A bronze Corinthian helmet hammered in one piece with a tall, smoothly rounded skull descending into an integral neck guard that flares slightly at the rear. The face is cut with large almond-shaped eye openings divided by a broad, tapering nose guard that projects from the brow. Long cheekpieces splay outward towards their lower ends, framing a narrow opening for the mouth and chin. Size: 250mm x 200mm; Weight: 785g. Provenance: Private Collection; Belgian and UK art markets, 2000s-2010s; Previously in the collection of Alice Fünfschilling-Moser, Switzerland, acquired from Superior Stamp and Coin Co., INC, USA, 1977.
