STUNNING ETRUSCO-CORINTHIAN PYXIS WITH WILD ANIMALS FRIEZE.
Ca. 650 - 580 BC.
A ceramic pyxis of globular form on a low ring foot. A short everted neck and a pair of opposed upturned lugs sit at the shoulder. Across the body runs a continuous frieze of striding felines and quadrupeds punctuated by rosettes and dotted fillers on a reserved ground. Above and below, multiple concentric bands frame the frieze.
