STUNNING PAIR OF GREEK HELLENISTIC SILVER-GILT GRYPHON APPLIQUÉS
Ca. 500 - 300 BC.
A pair of silver appliqués, each cast in the form of a seated gryphon wearing a ridged collar. The wings rise in a high arc over the back, decorated with incised feathering and highlighted with gilding. Gilt accents also the facial features, collars, and claws.
