STUNNING PAIR OF GREEK HELLENISTIC SILVER-GILT GRYPHON APPLIQUÉS Ca. 500 - 300 BC. A pair of silver appliqués, each cast in the form of a seated gryphon wearing a ridged collar. The wings rise in a high arc over the back, decorated with incised feathering and highlighted with gilding. Gilt accents also the facial features, collars, and claws. For similar see: P. Size: 50-52mm x 30-32mm; Weight: 10g Provenance: Private UK collection; previously acquired on the Holland art market in the 1990s.
