STUNNING PAIR OF GREEK SKYPHOI.
Ca. 500 - 300 BC
A pair of red-figure terracotta skyphoi, each with a deep cup on a low foot and a pair of horizontal handles set beneath the rim, including, from left to right: a skyphos decorated with a frieze of upright palmettes linked by tendrils between horizontal bands; and a skyphos decorated with a large female head in profile on each face, the hair bound with a sakkos and framed by scrolling tendrils and palmettes, with a wave band below the lip.

Private London collection; previously acquired on the Belgian art market; originally in the collection of L Evrard, Liege 1980’s.
