STUNNING VIKING GOLD MEDALLION WITH CROSS. Ca. AD 800 - 1000. A gold medallion with a broad rolled suspension loop. The upper face is decorated with filigree and twisted wires arranged as a cross within a quatrefoil of interlaced loops. Each arm of the cross ends in a triangular cluster of granules, with a round cluster at the centre. A corded border runs around the edge with small applied pellets at intervals. For similar see: A.
