Extremely rare complete series of the richly illustrated monumental work on the indigenous people of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago. - Vol. 1: The Sel'knam (with plate folder). Vol. 2: The Yamana. Vol. 3/I: The Halakwulup. Vol. 3/2: Anthropology (with plate folder). - The important German ethnographer, theologian and missionary Martin Gusinde (1886-1969), professor at the Catholic University in Washington D.C., undertook extensive study trips to the Araucanians (Chile, Patagonia), the Tierra del Fuego Indians and various Pygmy tribes, among others. - Provenance: Gerhard Lindblom (1887-1969), Swedish ethnographer, with three-line eh. Dedication by the author on recto of frontispiece of vols. 1 and 2 - E. Zbinden, Bern, with his owner's stamp on flyleaf. Included: Three announcement postcards of the "Anthropos" publishing house, as well as a three-page typosketch with a coloured plate. Typoskipt with zsf. academ. Correspondence from and to Gusinde. - Very well-preserved set of copies, due to the long period of publication complete as very rarely offered here. Only incompletely traceable for us at auctions.
