The present text, which is expanded on the first editions of 1626 and 1643 to include a description of Chile and Peru, is attributed to the cartographer Johannes Walbeeck (1602-1649), who travelled with Le Clerc as a "mathematician", and was published as part of Commelin's collected works on the voyages of the Dutch East India Company. Without title page, as published (Tiele). - The finely worked, detailed and bold etchings show maps of Cape Horn, the coasts off Lima and Guayaquil, as well as views of the harbours of Lima and Acapulco. - The brochure is widened and rubbed along the sides, otherwise clean, the etchings of appealing freshness.
