One of the great Art Deco designers, Jean Dunand (1877-1942) was of Swiss origin and later naturalised French. He was a decorator, sculptor, copperware maker, cabinetmaker, lacquerer and painter, best known for decorating transatlantic liners with Ruhlmann, Leleu, Jouve and others. The Musée d'Orsay has several dishes and a paperweight by Jean Dunand. Our artist was also a medallist, as this plaque indicates
