Suite of four armchairs in carved wood, cream lacquered and gold reupholstered. The back and waist are decorated with a frieze of water leaves. The armrests are cuffed and rest on four tapered and fluted legs, upholstered in pale blue silk damask. Louis XVI period, stamped Adrien-Pierre Dupain (received Master in 1772) Height 96 cm - Width: 65 cm x Depth: 48 cm (Damage, missing parts and wear) Our four armchairs were part of a set with a pair of chaise ponteuses and a pair of settees sold separately at Sotheby's on 19 November in Paris under lots 31, 32 and 33 as part of a suite known to have probably been delivered to Queen Marie-Antoinette at Saint-Cloud or in her house at Le Hameau in Trianon.
