A set of four Second Empire-style embroidered panels, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, point stitch embroidery on polychrome wool canvas, enhanced with silk in a nuanced pastelle technique; the background is embroidered in cream silk. Two pairs depicting lakeside landscapes featuring palm trees, rhododendrons, hollyhocks, trumpet vine and other naturalistic flowers, populated by numerous birds including birds of paradise and peacocks (in fine condition, professionally cleaned), 340 x 67 cm and 290 x 48 cm.
