SUITE OF FOUR NESTING TABLES, ENGLISH REGENCY PERIOD, CIRCA 1810-1815 Attributed to Gillows Rectangular in shape, the tops in burr ambony, rosewood, birch burr and cherry respectively, the smallest with a checkerboard top, the rosewood uprights joined by brace bars; restorations. A set of Regency specimen-wood quartetto tables, attributed to Gillows, circa 1810-1815 A suite of comparable tables delivered for the Senhoure family in Lancashire around 1810 and traditionally attributed to Gillows, is illustrated in G.Beard and J.Goodison, English Furniture 1500-1840, 1987, p. 254, fig. 3. A second, also attributed to Gillows, is in Leighton Hall, Lancashire and is illustrated in R. Edwards and M.Jourdain, Georgian Cabinet-Makers, London, 1955, p. 221, fig. 193. Comparable examples sold in recent years include the set sold at Christie's London, 4 June 2009, lot 136 (£21,250) and the suite of five tables from the former collection of Michael Lipitch II (see Christie's London sale, 4 October 2001, lot 116). - If the specimen is to be exported from the EU, an export CITES permit is required, which is the responsibility of the future buyer.
