~SUITE OF THREE NETSUKE in elephant ivory heightened with brown, depicting respectively Shoki, the demon hunter, advancing cautiously, half hidden by a large hat, while a mocking oni shelters under his leg, with a signature; Ebisu and Hôtei, two of the gods of Happiness, seated, drinking, next to Hôtei's large bag of riches on which a child is climbing; an oni carrying a giant "tabako-ire" (tobacco pouch) on his back, helped by a smaller oni. (The first, with fine cracks and slightly depatinated; fine cracks and traces of glue on the base of the second; the third is missing). Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912), circa 1880-1900.
