SUBJECT in gilded copper and turquoise cabochons, depicting Maitreya seated in "bhadrasana" (European-style sitting) on a throne, his hands in "dharmacakramudra" (setting in motion the wheel of the law), adorned in the finery of the bodhisattva, a small stupa planted at the top of his headdress. Two blossoming lotus stems behind each shoulder support a small "kundika" water vase on the left and a "cakra" wheel of law on the right. (Worn gilding). Tibet, 19th century.
