Superb mid-19th century brooch in 18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold centred with a very fine cameo representing Bacchus in banded sardony. On each side, two shell shapes decorated with small pearls, probably natural, that might suggest Aphrodite. French owl hallmark. Minor traces of soldering on the back.
