SUPERVIELLE (Jules). The Fable of the World. Lausanne, André and Pierre Gonin, 1959. In-folio, mounted on tabs, ochre morocco decorated with mosaic white and havana morocco stars and brown morocco pieces at the crossing of their branches, in reserve on the composition: motifs of silk flames painted in green, yellow and black, title in the same way along the spine, anise suede lining and endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine, folder and slipcase (Mercher 1963). Illustrated with 29 original colour lithographs by Jean Lurçat, including 5 double-page lithographs hand-coloured by the artist himself. Edition of 180 copies signed by the author and publisher at the justification, this one of 15 on japon nacré containing an original gouache signed by Jean Lurçat representing a triton (380 x 275 mm), not included in the illustration, and a page with colour research, mounted at the head of the book. A flamboyant mosaic binding reminiscent of the decorative motifs dear to the artist, finely executed by Henri Mercher.
