SYRO-HITTITE TERRACOTTA FEMALE IDOL. Ca. 1500 - 1200 BC. A terracotta female idol with elongated legs drawn closely together and tapering at the feet. The torso is narrow and slightly angular, with outstretched arms and a prominent pierced disc applied to the lower abdomen. A necklace of vertical incisions spans the upper chest, while a double row of punched dots curves across the hips. The head is broad and flat, pierced at the edges, with large applied eyes flanking a prominent vertical nose. A further disc is set centrally on the forehead.
