SYRO-HITTITE TERRACOTTA FEMALE IDOL. Ca. 1500 - 1200 BC. A terracotta female idol with slender legs and pronounced hips, the torso narrowing at the waist. The head is flattened and pierced, with large circular perforations across the crown and cheeks. The face displays a prominent pinched nose flanked by two large eyes, and an applied pierced disc is set on the forehead. The arms are bent at the elbows, the hands resting beneath the breasts, with an additional pierced disc on the abdomen. Dotted horizontal lines accent the waist and upper thighs.
