SYRO-HITTITE TERRACOTTA IDOL. Ca. 2000 - 1700 BC. An anthropomorphic terracotta idol depicting an abstract female figure with prominent hips and short, outstretched arms. The head is broad and flat, pierced with circular holes forming the facial and headdress features. Additional piercings in the ears hold a pair of gold earrings. The front is further detailed with a circular navel rendered in deep incision and a raised ridge encircling the neck. The reverse side of the figure is flat and undecorated.
