Lot no. 496
Snuffbox
Made of carved wood and metal (screws). Depicts a clenched hand emerging from a sleeve with a scalloped cuff and a rosette decoration, all carved in the round. The thumb, positioned on top, serves as a handle for opening the pivoting lid. The hand appears to be holding a stick, the end of which protrudes and acts as a prop, enabling the snuffbox to stand upright.
