WRITING TABLE, DESIGN BY ROGER VAN DER CRUSE DIT LACROIX, LOUIS XV PERIOD
Rectangular shape, in rosewood and violetwood veneer inlaid with reserves on the top. It opens with a drawer fitted with an inkwell and a shelf. Bronze trim decorated with foliate shells on the belt and falling piastres. Cambered legs with sabots joined by a brace shelf, top of wood arched with a moulding.

Brother-in-law of Jean-François Oeben and Jean-Henri Riesener, Roger Vandercruse was one of the great exponents of the Transition style.
He notably supplied the Duc d'Orléans, Madame du Barry and several pieces of furniture for the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne through Gilles Joubert.
Many museums have works by this cabinetmaker in their collections, including Carnavalet, Cognacq-Jay, the Louvre, Nissim-de-Camondo, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Wallace Collection and Paul-Getty.
