A Louis XV style parcel-gilt and cream painted dining-hall table, by Maison Jansen This dining-hall table, with its Regency-inspired structure, is one of the most emblematic models by Maison Jansen, the illustrious decorating house founded in 1880 by Jean-Henri Jansen. A dining table of the same design was supplied by Jansen to Villa Windsor (see Fig. 2), the residence of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in the Bois de Boulogne near Paris (see J. A. Abbott, Jansen Furniture, Acanthus Press, New York, 2007, p. 168). Two other dining tables of the same design, although in mahogany and from the former collection of Mrs Jayne Wrightsman, were sold at Christie's in New York on 27 September 2007 as lots 273 and 274 (for USD 97,000 and USD 61,000 respectively).
