with two backrests decorated with lion's heads, the x-shaped base with double-baluster struts terminating in claws, apocryphal stamped Jacob D. R. Meslée.

A similar stool, now in the Musée Marmottant in Paris, adorned the Tuileries Palace around 1800 along with five other stools (illustrated in J-P. Samoyault, Mobilier Français Consulat et Empire, Paris, 2009, p. 54, fig. 66).
