Taf WALLET (1902-2001) "Boules players", pétanque in Ostend. Oil on canvas, framed. Signed and annotated on the back, 80 x 90 cm. Provenance: Collection stamp "BBL Tournai" on the back. Note: Gustave Fernand Hector Wallet, born in La Louvière on 24 November 1902, was the son of Fernand Wallet, a butcher, and his wife Ida Deneyer[1]. He first studied wood and marble at the École industrielle de La Louvière (1916-1917). He continued his studies at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts in Mons with Alfred Duriau and Émile Motte (1920-1922) and at the Académie de Bruxelles with Constant Montald, Jean Delville and Émile Fabry (1922-1926). He moved to Schaerbeek in 1923. The Godecharle Prize (1928) enabled him to visit France and Italy in 1930.
