TALFOURD (Thomas Noon). Vacation rambles and Thoughts: comprising the recollections of three continental tours in the vacations of 1841, 1842, and 1843. London, Edward Moxon, 1845. 2 volumes small in-8°, bound in half calf with corners, cold filets on the boards; spines decorated with title-piece, spotted edges (Binding of the period). First edition. Volume 2 gives some details of the ascent made by Abbé Caux and M. Nicholson on 31 August 1843, and describes the ascent made by Messrs Bosworth, Ed. Cross and M. Blanc on 4 September of the same year. The author joined the latter expedition, but had to give up on reaching the Grand Plateau.

Sir Thomas Noon Talfourd (Reading 1795 - Stafford 1854) was an English judge, radical politician and author. He was a member of the House of Commons from 1835 to 1841 and again in 1847. He initiated the Copyright Act, although it was passed in 1842 when he was no longer a Member of Parliament.
