TANG DYNASTY TERRACOTTA POLO RIDER - TL TESTED Ca. AD 618 - 907. A terracotta polo rider depicted mid-gallop, mounted on a dynamically posed horse with outstretched legs. Hair tied in high buns, and with detailed expressive facial features . The horse is well-muscled, with a bridle, saddle, and saddle cloth visible beneath the riders. Its head is slightly turned, with an opened mouth and perked ears. For similar see: The San Diego Museum of Art, Accession Number: 1938.12. Size: 450mm x 300mm; Weight: 3.18kg Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
