NAIN RUG (Iran, wool and silk, circa 1975) Midnight blue field decorated with scrolls and garlands of fine crenellated stems terminating in flowering palmettes surrounded by stylised ivory, sky blue and saffron beige foliage. Three borders, the main one cream, decorated with rows of motifs reminiscent of the central field. Wool velvet, flowers surrounded by silk on a cotton base. Dimensions: H. 207 x W. 118 cm.
