Carpet – Tibet (1880–1930)
A thick wool carpet, hand-woven and hand-knotted in Tibet, featuring a beautiful design of stylised phoenixes. The phoenix is one of the four deities of Chinese mythology; often associated with the dragon, it is, in fact, the emblem of the empress, whilst the dragon is that of the emperor.
