Moreau, 1750, in-4, brown marbled calf, spine decorated, red edges (contemporary binding). 4 ff. 46 pp. 1 f. (privil.) - 18 engraved folding plates, 3 in colour. The anatomist Pierre Tarin (Courtenay 1725-1761) was one of the editors of Diderot and D'Alembert's Encyclopédie. The 3 colour plates are one of the first attempts at colour printing. Tarin was assistant-preparator to Gautier d'Agoty, but in the list of authors and doctors who have dealt with the brain (pp. 37-46) he omits to mention the latter, author in 1748 of an Anatomie de la tête en tableaux imprimés which represents the brain in its natural state...
