TEAPOT WITH CHINOISERIE DECORATION
Meissen, ca. 1723-24.
Spherical teapot with a curved spout featuring a mascaron. Painted with chinoiserie scenes in quatrefoil cartouches with gold lace borders underlaid with luster and with iron-red, embossed feathered leaves. In the intermediate spaces, flying insects and birds, and a bird on a branch with Indian flowers. Indian flower branches on the spout and the back of the handle, gold lace border on the rim of the teapot. The domed lid with Indian flower painting. Underglaze blue swords and .K.P.M. mark, gilder's number 72. on both parts.
H 11 cm.
Minimal chip on the spout, minor restoration on the rim of the lid.
