Literatur
A Meissen porcelain teapot with rare heraldic decor
Of bulbous form with a facetted spout terminating an eagle's head mask, the original lid with a disc shaped finial. Both sides decorated with a rare coat-of-arms with palm fronds surrounding two lions rampant holding aloft a wreath on an enamel blue field. Decorated below the spout and handle and to the lid with finely painted Chinoiserie scenes. A border to the shoulders with four Chinoiserie scenes in puce camaieu. Underglaze blue K.P.M. mark, enamelled crossed swords mark. There are no restorations over rim chips. It was residues of glue used to fix the lid. H 12.9 cm.
Ca. 1726, Chinoiseries attributed to Johann Gregorius Hoeroldt.
The coat-of-arms could be that of the Italian de Andreo family.
Provenance
Continental family ownership.
