Lot no. 175
[TERRIER MANUSCRIT]. DELFOSSE (Louis-Joseph). Atlas of the Marquisate of Bousies. [Landrecies], 1740-1741. In-folio, blond calf, gilt roulette, ornate spine, red title page, interior lace, gilt edges (Binding of the 18th century). Precious manuscript terrier of the Marquisate of Bousies, in the Cambrésis region, dedicated to the Marquis Henri-Théodore de La Pierre de Bousies (1685-1756) by its author, Louis-Joseph Delfosse, a sworn surveyor for the province of Artois residing in Landrecies (now the department of Nord). The work provides a meticulous survey of the lands, buildings and land rights belonging to the Marquisate of Bousies, with cross-references to maps and certificates signed by the author. There is also a copy of his surveyor's master's letters, issued by the magistrates of Cambrai and Arras. Nine large handwritten survey maps on vellum, drawn in brown ink and finely illuminated in watercolour, mitre-mounted and folded at the head of each section, illustrate this imposing manuscript. A handsome volume, very well bound. Covers damaged.
