FEMALE HEAD The head is presented from the front with a slight inclination. The rounded face is characterised by fine, rather youthful features. The small, almond-shaped eyes are hemmed in by a thick eyelid, and the pupils are incised, but this work on the eyes seems to have been done after the head was made. The nose is now missing, and the hemmed mouth is semi-open. The hair is made up of long, tight locks separated by a parting in the middle and pulled back, barely covering the tops of the ears, to end up in wispy locks. The work at the top of the head is not very prominent, while the locks at the bottom are more voluminous. The whole is covered by a veil. Limestone . Used (?) H. 28 cm Late Roman or Byzantine art. The nose is now missing, the hemmed mouth is half-open. The hair, for its part, is made up of long, tight locks separated by a middle part, brought back to the back barely covering the tops of the ears to end in calamistrized locks. The work at the top of the head has little relief, while the lower strands are more voluminous. Everything is covered by a veil.
