Long cashmere shawl, India, circa 1860-1870,
Black rosette crowned with multicoloured petals filled with floral arabesques. The slopes are decorated with an ogival cartouche with a tree of life flanked by stretched cashmere palms in a black and white scalloped frame punctuated with purple palmettes.
Fine espoliné cashmere weave in approximately 10 colours, fringed embroidered edges. Lined, (some minor wear), 322 x 136 cm.
