THAILAND - Thai Buddha Sakyamuni (Maravijaya) in bronze with green patina from the Chien Saen period. 14th century.
Depicted seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus-shaped base between borders sculpted with a string of pearls, hands in bhumisparsa and dhyana mudras, dressed in a diaphanous robe moulding the body with pearled borders, face serene, The eyes are half-closed, the superciliary arches arched, the earlobes long and slightly curved, the hair styled in curls rising into a dome forming the ushnisha. The base is unsealed and rests on a wooden plinth.
