THANGKA
in ink and tempera on fine canvas, depicting the eleven-headed, one-thousand-armed bodhisattva Sahashrabhujalokeshvara, standing on a lotiform plinth leaning against a mandorla, dressed in a dhoti, antelope skin and stole, wearing the princely jewellery customary to bodhisattvas. One of his pairs of hands performs anjalimudra ("gesture of adoration"), one of his right hands performs varadamudra ("gesture of giving"), and the rest hold various attributes such as the mala rosary, the wheel of the law "chakra", the pink lotus "padma", the bow "capa", the arrow "sara" and the vase of lustral water "kundika". It is surrounded by Vajradhara at the top, Shadbhuja Mahakala at the base and four of the five jina at the corners: Vairocana, Akshobhya, Ratnasambhava and Amoghasiddhi.
