THANGKA SINO TIBETANO, XIX SECOLO THANGKA DEPICTING BUDDHA, SINO-TIBET, 19TH CENTURY 92 cm high, 59 cm wide (without frame) Thangka depicting Visvabhu, one of the Buddhas of the past. Seated in the Lotus position, with crossed legs and feet on the opposite heights, the most common position for meditation, and his hands in the in the activation of the Wheel of Dharma (dharmacakrapravartanamudra), thumb and forefinger of his right hand touching to form the Wheel of Dharma, while those of the left put it into motion. The face with a serene expression flanked by two long pendulous ears and curly hair gathered in a Height knot, the body garbed in brilliant red, orange and pink robes and he is sitting on a throne of intricate flowers tree raising from waves. In the upper part of the painting enhancing the overwordly atmosphere are four islands of pastel and white clouds with depiction of different Buddhas, in the mid and lower side four island with the Eight Lokapalas, guardians of directions. At the bottom a Bodhisattva of Compassion and a Vajrapani.
