Ibid, 1543. 2 parts in one volume in-8, long-grained red morocco, gilt border framing, lobed lozenge-rectangle framing in the middles, ornate smooth spine with sifted background, double fillet inside, purple silk linings and endpapers with gilt roulette framing the linings, gilt edges (binding p. Bozerian jeune). A very fine and rare Greek edition of Theocritus' Idylls, together with the commentary by the Greek humanist Zachariah Kalliergis, which forms the second part of the volume. This edition, printed entirely in Greek, with the exception of the titles and the preface by the Swiss physician and philologist Alban Thorer (1489-1550), is a very careful reprint of the Venetian edition given in 1539 by Bartolomeo Zanetti, itself based on the so-called "calliergine" edition - named after Zacharie Kalliergis - published in Rome in 1516. It came from the printing house of Giovanni Farri and his brothers, the sons of Cristoforo Farri, originally from Rivoltella and active in Venice from 1540 to 1549, whose mark with the Janus trifrons adorns the penultimate leaf of both parts of the work, The two titles bear the salamander mark, a typographical mark found in various publications by Bartolomeo Zanetti, Giovanni Farri, Comin da Trino, Girolamo Polo and other Venetian printers. The Idylls include two calligrams interspersed with a woodcut in the shape of an axe and a pair of wings on ff. K4v and K6r. The copy is complete with the two blank leaves K8 and O4.
