THOMAS OF AQUIN (Saint). Enarrationes, quas Cathenam vere auream dicunt, in quatuor Evangelia. Paris, Jehan Petit, 1532. In-folio, brown calf, decoration of cold crosses inscribed in a large frame on the boards, spine decorated with cold fillets and fleurons, smooth edges (Modern pastiche binding). A very fine edition of the Chaîne d'or printed by Didier Maheu on behalf of Jean Petit. Black and red title in a fine wood-engraved frame of foliage, cherubs, demons and colonnade motifs, printed in Gothic script, text on 2 columns, historiated initials on a sifted background, large wood-engraved mark of Jehan Petit on the title. This edition is rare: there are only three known copies in the world, in Strasbourg, Wake Forest University (USA) and the University of Wales (UK). It is missing from the BnF catalogue.
