Abb.). Form, Komposition und Details stimmen augenfällig überein mit dem hier vorgestellten Werk. Die etwas differierenden Maßangaben (Sack mit 80 x57cm) korrigiert Antonio Morassi in seinem Standardwerk, dem Werkverzeichnis von Giambattista Tiepolo von 1962, auf 87 x 58cm, übernimmt aber die Zuschreibung mit: ".certainly by Tiepolo." Während Eduard Sack noch die Zuordnung der Heiligen akribisch aufführt, neben der Muttergottes sieht er deren Eltern, die heiligen Joachim und Anna (?), spricht Morassi recht nüchtern von "Madonna and saints". Beide verweisen auf die etwa gleiche Entstehungszeit des Werkes, nämlich 1748 (Sack) und 1745-50 (Morassi). Wir vermuten hier doch zwei Hände in der Ausführung. Zum einen den Maler der Muttergottes und der beiden sie rechts assistierenden Heiligen (in denen sicher Giambattista Tiepolo zu sehen ist) und zum anderen Domenico Tiepolo (der in diesen Jahren als einer der maßgeblichen Werkstattmitarbeiter fungierte) bei der Fertigung der Heiligen Männer zu ihren Füßen. We thank Mr. Michele Danieli, Bologna for his kind support. In his 1910 publication Eduard Sack recorded the painting "Madonna Worshiped by Saints" as a work by Giambattista Tiepolo (see ill.). Style, composition, and details clearly correspond to those of the work at hand. Antonio Morassi corrected the slightly differing measurements (Sack 80 x 57cm) to 87 x 58cm in his 1962 reference book, the catalogue raisonné of Giambattista Tiepolo. Yet, he retained the attribution: "certainly by Tiepolo.". While Eduard Sack meticulously lists the saints - along with Madonna he identifies her parents, the saints Joachim and Anne (?) - Morassi rather prosaically refers to "Madonna and Saints". Both point out an almost identical period of creation of this work: 1748 (Sack) and 1745-50 (Morassi). However, we tend to assume the involvement of two painters. On the one hand, the artist responsible for the Madonna and the two saints on her right (in which certainly Giambattista Tiepolo is discernible), and on the other Domenico Tiepolo (one of the most important workshop employees at the time) in the saints at her feet.
