It contains on pages 55-63 a fragment which was not reprinted in later editions. A very fine copy complete with the grey cover decorated with a large woodcut frame. From the library of the Genevan poet John Ruegger with his handwritten bookplate in ink on the flyleaf. A close friend of Topffer and tutor to the Princes of Fürstenberg, Ruegger (1796-1868) recounted the anecdote that gave rise to one of the adventures in L'Héritage: "On the evening of Sunday 8 December 1833, I was at the kindly author's house, and I was dilating my spleen with M. Jabot, who had not yet been published. Jabot, who had not yet been published, when we were told there had been a fire [at the Revilliod house in the rue du Rhône, near the Balance]; he flew there with his boarders, and we worked there, but especially he, for more than seven hours in various places.
