TOWER CLOCK WITH REAR PENDULUM AND ALARM Southern Germany, 17th century. Copper and brass engraved with flowers and leaves, and gilt. Architectural case on a profiled stepped base and pomegranate feet. The corners of the case are decorated with three-quarter columns. Openwork bell cage with balustrades and a dome-shaped top with a pyramid tip (glued). Front with silver-plated dial, engraved with Roman numerals for the hours. Below is a smaller minute dial with Arabic numerals. On the rear side, a small auxiliary dial for setting the striking mechanism. Movement with brass and iron gear wheels, movement with spindle escapement and rear pendulum (Originally, probably with a balance wheel). Hour-striking mechanism on bell. Alarm mechanism on bell. 16.5 × 16.5 × 34.5 cm. Balustrade in part replaced, pendulum replaced. Movement requires revision, currently not working. Gilding in part heavily rubbed. Supplements.
