ORTHODOX WORK - 20th century Set of two sandblasted pearl embroideries the first depicting the dormition of the Virgin Mary on a wooden core. The face and hands are painted, the rest of the body is decorated with silver, white and pink seed beads and small foils. H.10cm - W.34cm the second depicting the baptism of Christ by Saint John the Baptist assisted by two angels bringing a white garment under the dove of the Holy Spirit. Engraving on a wooden core entirely embroidered with multicoloured rocailles pearls. Border highlighted with star motifs. Inscribed in Cyrillic at the bottom. Height 30.5cm - Width 39cm
