A very fine Roman ring consisting of a thick band of yellow gold between 21.6k and 18k (900 thousandths and 750 thousandths) set with a cabochon probably of chrysoprase engraved with Greek letters: upper case delta, lower case omega, upper case rhô and upper case iota. Rings with intaglios were frequently used as a signature or as part of a group, particularly a political group. Very fine gold leaf superimposed setting.
