VERY FINE SILK GHOUM RUG (Iran, Shah's era circa 1965 - 1970) Salmon pink field2 decorated with finely drawn garlands of flowers and foliage in ivory and old gold, adorned with a central midnight blue crenellated medallion, inlaid with palmettes and polychrome floral bulbs in the form of stylised diamonds, framed by two spearheads. Eight borders, the main one ivory, with rows of palmettes and multicoloured flower buds, surrounded by fine twisted crenellated stems. Four beige spandrels with ruby flower crowns. Silk velvet on silk foundation: silk warp, weft and fringe (100% silk). (Good general condition, selvages slightly worn) H. 225 x W. 136 cm.
