This print by Kōitsu depicts the old Benkei wooden bridge linking Akasaka to Koicho, spanning Benkeibori, a remnant of the outer moat of Edo Castle. The bridge was originally built in the Kanda Iwamotocho district, but was dismantled and reassembled in its current location in 1889. Today, the original bridge has been demolished and replaced by a stronger concrete bridge.
